Creating the future of manufacturing
Okuma—Your Single Source
for Machine & Control
For over half a century since the development of the OSP III in 1963, Okuma has continued to create products based on a manufacturing philosophy rooted in the machining floor. With the development concept of "total responsibility"
—covering everything from design to manufacturing and maintenance—
Okuma has developed both Machine and Control (single-source) to provide reliability
and deliver one-of-a-kind functions that exceed customer expectations.
As initiatives to drive manufacturing innovation accelerate around the world, Okuma aims to become the world's best "Total Manufacturing Service" company that supports the entire production process.
By continually taking inspiration from the machining floor, we deliver total solutions that enhance productivity
and help resolve the challenges faced by today's factories.
Through this approach, we remain dedicated to meeting the diverse and evolving needs of our customers.
Total Solution
From controller to motors, servo drive units, and encoders,
We develop all our NC components in-house
To maximize the high potential machine tools have, it is essential to optimize not only the numerical control (NC), but also the integration of components such as motors, servo drive units, and position encoders. Okuma achieves high performance and the most attuned control through in-house development of all control-related components.
OSP is the No. 1 component system that supports high quality and enables high accuracy of machine tools.
Total Solution
Taking total and consistent responsibility for all of our products
Total Responsibility
Machine tools that automatically change tools, while turrets and tables move freely to efficiently machine holes, grooves, curved surfaces, and complex shapes with micron-level accuracy.
This is the world that is made possible because NC units and machines can be intregrated. A world made possible by "Single Source for Machine and Control". Such scenes have become common today, but they were only a dream half a century ago.
Despite being machine tool manufacturer, Okuma took on the challenge of developing an NC unit to make this dream into a reality. A challenge considered reckless at the time.
Supporting this passion was our firm belief in "developing high-precision and user-friendly machines", and a philosophy of "taking total and consistent responsibility for all of our products".
With "Total Responsibility" as our development concept, we continue to develop OSP with a strong commitment to taking responsibility for manufacturing services—from design to machining and maintenance.
Total Solution
Based on being the "Single Source for Machine and Control",
We continously address our customers' challenges
and meet their expectations at all times
OSP's philosophy of "absolute position detection," its concept of "software control," and its fundemental principle of "Single Source for Machine and Control" has evolved into "Single Source for Machine, Control, and Information", and then ultimately into "Single Source for Machine, Control, Information, and Knowledge".
The DNA of Single Source for Machine and Control, passed down through generations, is reflected in innovative product development and intelligent technologies. It has taken shape as services that directly enhance customers' productivity—regardless of whether it is for Machine or for NC Control.
