5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ
There are 13 different types of geometric errors during 5-axis machining, such as misalignment of rotary axes, which can significantly affect machining accuracy.
The 5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ measures these geometric errors using a touch probe and a calibration sphere.
Based on the measurement results, it compensates the motion accuracy of the five-axis machine tool and improves machining precision.
User benefits
The 5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ*1 maintains high accuracy with a minimum number of times of tuning
The machine performs a self-diagnosis to inform you of the optimal tuning timing.
The 5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ is an upgraded version of the 5-Axis Auto Tuning System, which automatically tunes the accuracy of 5-axis machining centers.
With the new function of the 5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ, the machine presents the optimal tuning timing by self-diagnosing accuracy change.
This makes it possible to maintain high accuracy with the minimum number of times of tuning.
*1 The 5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ is compatible with 5-axis machining centers. Multitasking machines employ the 5-Axis Auto Tuning System.
*2 The optimal number of times of tuning varies depending on your plant environment.
5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ—Actual Examples
Higher accuracies in 5-axis machining
Tools (table) are tilted to various angles, and when tuning is done manually for 4 kinds of geometric error for each machined surface in multi-sided machining, the maximum step in the machined surfaces is 12 µm. With the 5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ, the maximum step is 3 µm and on most machined surfaces there will be no step at all.
Note: The data shown are actual data but do not represent guaranteed accuracies.
Also effective for the periphery of large workpieces
The effect of geometric error tends to be large on the periphery of 5-axis machining center tables.
In this case, the 5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ is highly effective.

Higher accuracies in 5-axis machining on multitasking machines
In multi-sided machining with tools inclined at different angles for each surface, accuracy is improved after use of the 5-Axis Auto Tuning System.
Note: The data shown are actual data but do not represent guaranteed accuracies.
Takes 5-axis machining accuracy to next level
Tuning of up to 11 types of geometric error
Manual tuning has been a bothersome and time-consuming task, and so the geometric error for which tuning could be done was limited to only 4 types of center position error of the spindle axis. Moreover, while the working time could be shortened with general automatic tuning functions, the accuracy remained at the level achieved with manual work.
With the 5-Axis Auto Tuning System Ⅱ, the machine automatically tunes the machine for up to 11 types* of geometric error.
* With 5-Axis Auto Tuning System for multitasking machines, the maximum is 10 types.
Quick and easy tuning by anyone
Let the machine do the tuning for you in about 15 minutes.*
Surprisingly simple with “Easy Operation” OSP.
* Measurement time when tuning for 11 types of geometric error in “Full” mode with MU-V series machines.
* Measurement time changes depending on the machine type and measurement mode. In “Simple” mode, tuning for 4 types of geometric error takes about 5 minutes.
