We found that the server of a consolidated subsidiary in Germany, Okuma Europe GmbH (“OEG”) was accessed by an unauthorized third party, which resulted in infection of the server by ransomware and that there might be risk of exfiltration of some personal data and confidential information.
We are currently working on investigation of information security breaches resulting from the infection and recovery of the affected system with supports from outside experts. We have already reported this case to the police and other relevant governmental agencies in Germany.
It will take some time to clarify the full extent of the damage and the cause of this incident. No negative impacts of this incident on Okuma Corporation or Okuma group companies (other than OEG and its subsidiaries) have been observed.
