Okuma's MU-S600V 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center
60th (2017) Best 10 New Product Awards Winner

World's first! 5-axis VMC packaged with workpiece transport and robotics.
Another Okuma smart machine — the core of smart factory operations.

Okuma's MU-S600V 5-axis vertical machining center was awarded a 2017 Best 10 New Product Award sponsored by the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun (Business & Technology Daily News). Best 10 New Product Awards are given to selected products for their contributions to the development of manufacturing and the strengthening of Japan’s international competitiveness. Winners are chosen from among all products developed and in practical use in a given year. This is the 14th time Okuma has received a Best 10 New Product Award in the years from 2003 to 2017.

The MU-S600V is a smart machine, the core components of a smart factory, with great flexibility to handle various applications from high-mix, low-volume production (HMLV) to mass production — with just this one type of machine. Connecting several MU-S600Vs results in a smart line of compact machines already equipped with workpiece transfer robotics, for factory production lines without additional loaders and robots. By freely rearranging lineups from a standalone to multiple units, production fluctuations due to short product life cycles can be dealt with effectively.

Okuma also strived for improved ease of use and floor-space productivity in single-machine operations. Despite its very compact size, the MU-S600V can machine relatively large components and achieve best-in-class floor-space productivity (1.4 times better compared to previous models). A rotary trunnion table with high rigidity and minimal following error provides stable and high-quality machining. This "best product" also features innovative AI and Okuma Intelligent Technology to improve volumetric accuracy and productivity.

The MU-S600V is a 5-axis vertical machining center developed by Okuma as Your Single Source for M-E-I-K (Mechanics - Electronics - IT - Knowledge) — striving for a "revolution in manufacturing."
