Yuji Kawamura, of our Manufacturing Division, was selected along with 150 other Metal Machine Tool Assemblers/Adjusters of 2020 to receive an "Outstanding Engineer (Master Craftsman)" award. This marks the eighth time an Okuma employee has won this prestigious award.

For many years, Mr Kawamura has been engaged in the assembly of the spindle unit, the heart of a grinding machine, which amongst the various types of machine tools, require the highest level of accuracy. Through his efforts he has acquired a wealth of knowledge and the excellent skills associated with modern grinder technology development. He has also worked toward constantly improving assembly technology, and is a leader in the assembly and repair of grinder spindle units at our company. Okuma is also engaged in efforts to train and develop highly skilled technicians both in and outside the company.
