- Okuma Awarded 2010 Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Medal (Technology) for "Intelligent Machining System with Automatic Chatter and Vibration Detection and Avoidance"
- 14 Apr 2011
Okuma's Intelligent Machining System with Automatic Chatter and Vibration Detection and Avoidance calculates cutting speeds with the least vibration by detecting and analyzing the cutting vibration that occurs during machining. This is the basic principle underlying Okuma's Machining Navi system.
Machining Navi is a revolutionary system that represents machining conditions graphically, allowing the operator to set highly efficient, low-chatter machining conditions to maximize machine and tool performance and improve productivity tremendously.
Instituted with the aim of encouraging the development of mechanical engineering and industries in Japan, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Medal is awarded to recipients selected from the wide-ranging fields represented by all technical divisions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. Okuma also received this prize in 2002 for its Thermo-Friendly Concept intelligent technology.
