Launching the new MULTUS B400 for "no worries" machining of medium size workpieces on an intelligent multitasking machine
1 Dec 2005
Okuma introduces the MULTUS B400, which allows you to machine medium size workpieces on a MULTUS machine. These machines achieve high thermal stability and high precision with the Thermo-Friendly Concept, and collision prevention and large reductions in machining preparation time with the Collision Avoidance System.

Multitasking machines allow turning and milling operations on a single machine, but their weak points have been machining accuracy and operability. These problems have now been overcome with our Thermo-Friendly Concept, Collision Avoidance System and the development of the 10-inch chuck MULTUS B400-the newest member of the MULTUS series of intelligent multitasking machines.

The Thermo-Friendly Concept eliminates the need for a temperature-controlled room, and application of this concept enables high accuracy machining even on a multitasking machine. In addition, the Collision Avoidance System prevents collisions in all situations, making it possible to greatly reduce machining preparation and first part machining. A high rigidity structure supports a 4 mm2 turning capacity and 450 cm3/min end milling capacity. Put these all together and you have a high performance machine offering high machining capacity on top of high precision and ease of use.
