Excellent dimensional stability even from a cold start, and compensation work is halved. Over 30% of our machines with Thermo-Friendly Concept
Our company has considered Okuma machines as having excellent rigidity from the early days of our founding, as the mainstay of our factory. In the year following the announcement of Thermo-Friendly Concept, we purchased the MD-56VA vertical machining center with TFC on board. Until then, tool length compensation and offset compensation were often required to ensure machining accuracy, but the MD-56VA demonstrated outstanding dimensional stability even after a cold start after the machine had stopped running. Compensation problem solving and time was reduced by a half. Since then, every time we expanded our production capacity, we installed machines equipped with the Thermo-Friendly Concept, and now they account for over 30% of our 120 machines.
Although the workpieces cannot be disclosed due to non-disclosure agreements, the tolerance of aircraft parts manufactured by the MU-5000V and -6300V 5-axis VMCs is as severe as 2 to 4 µm. Because the workpieces are large, the thermal deformation is large. This function is very helpful to be able to greatly reduce the compensation work. The materials we machine are usually difficult-to-cut materials such as stainless steel, Inconel, titanium alloy, and super duralumin. The Thermo-Friendly Concept is also encouraging in this respect.
Recently, aircraft engine cover parts and blade cutting for low-NOx gas turbines for overseas use are booming, and in production runs, power module parts for electric vehicles and safety parts for SUVs are extremely busy. Under these circumstances, we have received awards from many customers in recognition of being a supplier providing excellent quality, cost, and delivery performance.
